Oran McConville Rathfriland Obituary, Death: Drumgath GAC football player died in Hilltown accident

Oran McConville Rathfriland Obituary, Death:- The Drumgath GAC community is in deep mourning following the sudden and tragic death of Oran McConville, a vibrant young man whose influence extended far beyond his years. Known for his warmth, humor, and ability to connect with others, Órán was a beloved member of both the local club and the broader community.

His journey with Drumgath GAC began in childhood, inspired by older siblings Rachael and Shéa, and he quickly became an integral part of many successful teams, enjoying accolades such as contributions to the U13 league-winning team, the U14 Féile team reaching the All-Ireland semi-final, and the U15 team winning the All County B Championship cup.

Órán’s achievements continued with significant contributions in 2022 and 2023, including victories in the Daniel Bailie Tournament and U17 B Championship, culminating in his transition to the senior level, where he played a pivotal role in the club’s Intermediate Championship win.

His sportsmanship and dedication were also evident at St. Mark’s High School, where he excelled in both Gaelic football and soccer. In addition to his athletic prowess, Órán was dedicated to volunteering at community events, such as Cúl Camps, and made a lasting impact during a life-changing trip to Kenya.

His passing comes as a profound shock to the community, following recent family losses, including that of his father, Paddy, and sister, Rachael. Órán is deeply missed by his mother, Amanda, and brother, Shéa, as the community rallies around them in their sorrow.

He will be remembered for his spirit, laughter, and the positive legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of all who knew him.
